Syfer customers are not required to submit any personal information to use our standard services. The Syfer standard offering will work simply by setting the device up in your network. However, your email address is required during setup in the mobile application, to control and customize your device and service offerings. This email address may be used to provide you with updates, notices, or to provide support. An email address must also be used to initiate a support ticket through email@example.com. Syfer may request additional personal data if necessary to resolve the support ticket.
With regard to the use of data for marketing purposes, the legal basis used is the legitimate interest for marketing communications with users of our Syfer solutions (recital 47 of the GDPR), unless those persons have opted out.
Technical data processed by the Syfer solution:
In the course of providing our service, Syfer must process, analyze, and in some instances collect or aggregate, network level data. All information processed in the course of using our solution is adequately anonymized and no traffic is logged. The information is used solely for the purpose of information and network security and the efficient operation of the products and services, according to technical specifications, and their improvement, including the analysis of reported or detected security issues. The information may additionally be used for analytical purposes to improve the quality of products and services. This data is stored for a limited period of time, depending on the usefulness of the current information security needs.
Cookies and Tracking Technologies:
We use some authorized service providers to help us to serve you with relevant ads about our services. These service providers may also place cookies and collect information that helps them identify your device, such as IP-address or other unique or device identifiers.
These practices do not extend to the use of our Syfer product where we enforce strict no logging or tracking policies.

As a company that strives to be a leader in the field of information security, the confidentiality of personal data is of vital importance to us. Access to any collected personal information is restricted only to Syfer employees and potential partner data processors that need access to this information. Syfer may use other technology companies to process collected personal data or carry out functions necessary for the operation of the product and services. These companies have strict contractual obligations to keep the confidentiality of the processed data and to offer the same level of security as outlined here.
Syfer may host personal data in any jurisdiction which offers adequate levels of personal data protection to comply with COPPA and EU GDPR standards, including companies that are certified under the US-EU Privacy Shield program.
Unfortunately, neither transferring data over the Internet nor storing it on servers can be 100% secure. Consequently, despite our best efforts to protect personal data, we cannot guarantee the security of information transmitted by the user. Any information transmitted is done at the user's own risk.
Who has access to personal data:
Syfer strives to maintain the privacy of your personal information. In limited situations, Syfer may release information to the following parties:
Competent authorities, upon legal request according to applicable laws or when necessary to protect the rights and interests of our clients or Syfer.
Syfer may allow limited access to its partners. Access will be limited to the relevant data necessary to fulfill contractual obligations between Syfer and its partner companies necessary to carry out essential functions of our service, fulfillment, or technical support.
Syfer will publish an annual transparency report which will detail the number of requests received from authorities and what information was provided so long as we are legally able to do so.
Editing your data and your personal data rights:
Upon account creation with your designated email address, changes can always be made to personal information provided to Syfer by contacting email@example.com.
In complying with EU GDPR standards, our clients have the right to access their personal data, rectify, erase, restrict the processing of, object to the processing of their data and its portability. To exercise these rights, please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
We collect very minimal usage statistics to maintain our quality of service. Our systems may know, for example, that the Syfer belonging to customer email@example.com has been armed with “Full Protection”, has been using our “US East” data center, and has been on for 14 days. This user cannot be uniquely identified as responsible for any specific behavior because this device’s usage pattern is mixed with many other devices that also connect to the same location over the same period.
We've architected our infrastructure to dispose of sensitive data such as location, IP address, etc. We know that a particular Syfer has been active, but we never know what activities have originated from said device.
